Introduction about Deafblindness




What is Deafblindness?


Deafblindness is a distinct disability. It is a combination of vision and hearing disability. A person who is deafblind has a substantial degree of loss in sight and hearing.






What are the causes of Deafblindness?

Some people are deafblind from birth. Others may be born deaf or hard of hearing and later become blind or visually impaired.

Some others are still normal from birth but lose the sight and hearing as a result of accident or illness.

Some children have other disabilities accompanied with deaf-blindness. They may be maternal rubella, genetic syndrome or brain injuries.
